Colonel Francis | Fenton, kneels by the body of his son, also a member of the 1st Marine Division, Michael, a 19 year-old Scout-Sniper, was Killed in action on Okinawa, May 7, 1945. Colonel Fenton later said the other men who died on Okinawa weren’t so fortunate as Mike, who “at least had his father there to pray over his body at the end.”
